The Neuroscience Center

The Neuroscience Center in Deerfield, Illinois is a multidisciplinary clinic, headed by Steven R. Best M.D., dedicated to the effective diagnosis and comprehensive treatment of neuropsychiatric diseases. Within its inviting, family-oriented environment, the clinic brings together a group of different specialists with a common interest in brain health matters.

The Neuroscience Center Mission Statement: "To diagnose and relieve people of their disruptive symptoms so that they may return to their homes and workplace and happily live their lives, as was originally intended."

The Staff includes:

The Neuroscience Center uses various state-of-the-art diagnostic and treatment procedures, including EEG, Brain SPECT, utilization of lab tests (including genetic testing), Neurofeedback and Brain Stimulation techniques. The latter include: rTMS (repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation) and tDCS (transcranial Direct Current Stimulation). In addition it provides workup and dose calibration for VNS (Vagus Nerve Stimulation) and our recent innovation: Ketamine infusions facilitated by TMS. Testing and counseling is provided via a network of close outside collaborators.

Dr. Best has developed an in depth knowledge-base for using the information provided by diagnostic procedures such as Brain SPECT, EEG, and Neuropsychological testing, for the purpose of efficiently tailoring an individualized treatment strategy. He is also an expert in the indications for various Brain Stimulation methods including both non-invasive and implanted types. He has some of the most extensive clinical experience with rTMS in the United States (used in this clinic since 1999). He often supervises treatment teams and individual psychotherapy.

The Neuroscience Center has become a well known resource for complex Neuropsychiatric cases coming from local, national and international referral sources.
